What is the Difference between Parked, Addon and Subdomains?
Subdomain:
A subdomain is a subdivision of a domain. It helps organize sections of a website better, giving each section it’s own sub division. For example: a company website has information on it’s main page and contact details in different pages, but it also has a store stup at the store.domain.com subdomain. This makes organizing where files go a lot easier.
Addon Domain:
An addon domain is the option a host can give for the ability to host more than one domain on the same control panel or shared hosting account. The domains work independent of one another but their files are managed from the same control panel. Think of it as having multiple hosting packages all sharing the same control panel. You can create email addresses, forwarders and more.
Parked domain:
A parked domain is a domain that shares the same files and DNS records as another domain hosted in the same control panel. It is an advanced form of redirecting a domain to another website. It has no files of it’s own, instead it only points to another domain, so when searching for the parked domain, the user gets redirected to the main domain. The advantage of a parked domain is that it gives the user the ability to create email accounts using this domain. Unlike a regular url redirection setup.
